Choose Your Aggregate Exposure and Sheen

Aggregate exposure and gloss are separate choices. A cream finish retains more of the slab surface where its condition allows. A salt-and-pepper finish reveals fine aggregate. A deeper grind exposes larger aggregate. Any sample is a guide: existing concrete, repairs and variations in the original placement affect the finished appearance.

We can discuss matte, satin and higher-gloss finishes to suit your space. A sample area helps establish realistic expectations before the full floor is completed.

How Concrete Polishing Works

1. Assess the slab: review its condition, existing coatings, cracks, access and finish requirements.
2. Prepare and repair: remove incompatible surface materials and address agreed repairs before polishing.
3. Grind and refine: use progressively finer diamond tooling to develop the specified exposure and finish.
4. Densify and protect: apply products suited to the concrete and selected system, following their instructions.
5. Inspect and hand over: review the result and explain cleaning and ongoing care.

Polished Concrete or Grind and Seal?

Mechanical polishing refines the concrete itself. Grind-and-seal uses a prepared concrete surface with a topical sealer that contributes to its appearance and protection. They have different maintenance and performance requirements. We help you compare the options for your floor rather than treating them as interchangeable finishes.

What Affects the Cost?

Floor area, existing coatings, slab damage, aggregate exposure, edge work, access and working hours all affect pricing. Small or divided rooms can require more labour per square foot than a large open floor. Questions About Concrete Polishing

Can an old concrete floor be polished?

Many existing slabs can be polished, but the result depends on the concrete and any contamination, adhesives or coatings. Repairs and old flooring outlines may remain visible. An assessment and sample help determine what is achievable.

Will cracks and patches disappear?

Repairs can improve the floor, but they may remain visible and differ in colour from the surrounding concrete. Existing movement also needs consideration. We explain these limitations when defining the scope.

How long will the work take?

Timing depends on preparation, size, access and the selected finish. Repair materials and protective treatments may also require waiting periods. Your quotation should identify the work sequence and when the floor can return to use.

Is polished concrete suitable for every space?

No. Wet areas, commercial kitchens and spaces exposed to chemicals may need a different flooring system. Slip resistance and cleaning requirements should be assessed for the intended use.

How do I maintain the floor?

Remove grit regularly, clean spills promptly and use a cleaner compatible with the installed system. Avoid harsh cleaners that can damage the finish, and follow the product-specific maintenance instructions supplied for your floor.
